WWE 2008 Draft
June 28th 2008 14:30
The WWE held it's annual draft this week and these were the results:
TO RAW
Rey Mysterio
CM Punk
Michael Cole
Batista
Kane
Jamie Noble
Deuce
Chuck Palumbo
Matt Striker
Kofi Kingston
Layla
TO SMACKDOWN
Jeff Hardy
Jim Ross
Umaga
Mr. Kennedy
Triple H
Trevor Murdoch
D.H. Smith
Big Daddy V
Brian Kendrick
Shelton Benjamin
Carlito
Maria
TO ECW
Matt Hardy
Mark Henry
Hornswoggle
Super Crazy
Fit Finlay
I'm not a fan of the draft and reading over this list I can see why. It favors Raw way too much. I guess this is because it's considered the number one program. Seeing as how I watch all 3, I certainly hoped it would be more equal. I will need to remind myself it's unfair when it comes around next year to try and avoid disappointment.
What angered me the most was how poorly ECW did. As much as they got some decent wrestlers nothing could compare to what they lost. CM Punk, Kane, Kofi Kingston and Shelton Benjamin were the main reasons to watch ECW so they haven't left much.
On Raw it's the opposite. The roster is impressive to the point that it will be difficult to give appropriate time to everyone. The additions of Rey Mysterio and Batista increases the number of title contenders, which is a real shame. Given how popular HBK is I believe he should get another run but I think he's moved down the order again.
The only saving grace I see is that on Smackdown Jeff Hardy should be near the top. Having him feud with Edge over the title would be awesome. If he won it that would be even better.
