JVC brand

Just want to know, JVC's brand in your country, how bad or good it's reputation compare to others brands for example SONY, PANASONIC, SAMSUNG, LG and etc.
In my country (Malaysia) somehow, JVC's brand is not favorable. For example it's TV, the shop promoter would recommend SONY or SAMSUNG. Then to camcorder, it would be SONY though in my opinion, JVC's camcorder is a lot better.
I wonder what exactly that makes a certain brands is a lot better than the rest??
