31st May : It's a non-smoking day
May 31st 2010 08:37
I just realize it when I was reading a section on Asahi shimbun.
So, say NO to SMOKING!!!
Say NO to them.Support the World Non-Smoking Day.
The weird part about today(even if the time difference with Asia and other certain parts of world is big) but the coverage about today is close to none especially in my country, Malaysia. I discover the World Non-Smoking Day from an article in a Japanese news site and I was quite disappointed in the local news site which I always read. And cheers to the power of internet*throws confetti's*
So, this year theme is "Gender and Tobacco" and it aims females and youths As what I read from other articles, the number of women who smokes is up to 20%of the worlds 1billion smoker.
From my point of view, this campaign should be more aggressive and the media should be more aware on this WHO campaign as tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world (one death in 10 adults worldwide, or about 5 million deaths each year, said the WHO).
Which remind me an article I wrote last week on a 2year old boy who smokes 2 packs a day.
